I am, and have been, a supporter of public schools for most of my adult life.  I started out as a special education teacher in the public schools and continue to work as an advocate for public schools.  PUSD is an amazing school district that achieves great results given very tight financial constraints – I am thrilled to support the teachers, students, administrators, and staff at PUSD through this Foundation.

I am a true supporter of public education and believe every child does matter!  Amazing things can happen when children are given opportunities, support, and the tools to learn.  I am passionate about our public schools and have been involved in many facets of volunteering my time to help improve education in Prescott.  I am excited to be on the Executive Board of this Foundation and am so impressed with the exceptional people that we have serving on the board.  Great things are going to happen from this Foundation and I am honored to have helped with the initial creation.

I am a Realtor® with Realty Executives Northern Arizona in The Don Partch Group in Prescott and love working with buyers and sellers in area.

The PUSD Education Foundation is a symbol of great hope to our students and staff.  It is a hardworking group of parents and community members that understand the value of partnership in our schools.  Without parents and community, schools cannot do their job well.  This Foundation is comprised of true advocates who want to make their schools the best anywhere…for the children.

Born and raised in Prescott, I am a fourth generation Prescottonian, and third generation product of PUSD.  My grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters, and I all are products of the PUSD system. Additionally, PUSD also helped put bread on our table. My mom is a retired PUSD teacher, and because of the great experiences I had as a student, and the joy I saw it bring my mom each year, I went on the become a PUSD teacher myself. I taught K-5 P.E. (Physical Education) as well as third grade at Taylor Hicks Elementary School over the course of 5 wonderful years. It is through my time in the classroom that I am able to bring a perspective of the struggles our teachers are facing each day to the PUSD Education Foundation Board; but possibly even more importantly, I have a vested interest in seeing Prescott Schools strengthened and grown. I have stepped back from my role as a teacher to stay home and raise the next generation of Prescott Unified students, and because I know that in a few short years my daughter will be joining our ranks as a PUSD student, it is my passion to see the Prescott schools flourish and thrive and continue to do so for generations to come. I believe that the PUSD Education Foundation is going to be the key to seeing that happen.

My interest in the PUSD Education Foundation stems from several aspects.  First, my children both attend PUSD schools and being involved with the Education Foundation seemed like a great opportunity to help them out, albeit indirectly.  Also, being an employee and alumni of Yavapai College has fostered a strong desire for me to support education in whatever way I can.  I sat in the exact classrooms I now work to support here at YC, so I consider myself strongly vested in a clear path to education for anyone willing to put in the time and effort.  I see this desire reflected in the mission of the PUSD Education Foundation.

I have been an advocate for education on every level for most of my working life.  I have helped bring in millions of dollars in grants for education.  Although I do not have children of my own, I recognize the value of a good education for strengthening the value of community.

Every child deserves the opportunity to have an educational experience that will inspire great achievement. We as a community have the ability to offer the best to our children. This is why I am proud to be a part of the PUSD Education Foundation. I see the value of our community pulling together to make amazing opportunities for our already amazing schools. It’s the schools and teachers that are helping to shape who our children will become in the future.

The PUSD Education Foundation is important to me because I grew up, taught in, and now have two children going through PUSD.  I believe in our public school system and the people who are leading it. I feel this is a way to make extraordinary things happen for our students.

As a former juvenile prosecutor, and now as a criminal defense attorney, I know that lack of education is a predictive factor of an individual’s likely involvement in the criminal justice system.  I am involved with the Foundation because it promotes and supports education which, in turn, keeps kids out of the system and on the road to success.
