LOCAL COMMUNITY SUPPORTS PUSD EDUCATION FOUNDATION LAUNCH
January 21st was a spectacular night for the launch of the Prescott Unified School District Education Foundation. The event was held at The Plaza View Ballroom where local establishments provided a “Taste of Prescott” with their wealth of appetizers. Vendors included: El Gato Azul, Murphy’s, Park Plaza Liquor & Deli, The Local, Premier Catering, SFE (PUSD Catering Service) and new to Prescott, Magic Cakes.
The Goodwin Street Trio provided musical accompaniment throughout the evening. The event was well attended by local community members who had the opportunity to mingle with friends and learn about opportunities to support the PUSD Education Foundation. Krista Carman, the PUSD Education Foundation President, said, “I was overwhelmed with the outpouring of community support for PUSD. The excitement is building along with the potential for all that this Foundation can do to better our schools and community—great things are about to happen!”
April 2016 will be the first occasion to witness the benefit of donations to the PUSD Education Foundation; when grants will be awarded to qualifying PUSD personnel who have shown innovative solutions for enhancing the education of PUSD students. Additionally, a banquet is planned for May 2016 to recognize 20 outstanding Prescott High School students and their “stars” (a teacher, administrator any PUSD staff member) who was instrumental in the student’s success.
Education is the backbone of any community and Prescott is fortunate to have such caring people who truly enhance the lives of children through their generosity. Other local contributors to the event included: My Kid’s Dentist, Ryan Brown, D.D.S., The Hike Shack, JEBCO, Lamb Chevrolet, Plaza View Ballroom, The Club at Prescott Lakes, Carman Law Firm, The Bergamini Group and SYSCO.
The PUSD Education Foundation was recognized as a 501(c)3 charity in July 2015. The mission of the nonprofit organization is to provide excellence in education, promote innovation in teaching, and partner with the community to enhance the quality of education for all students.
