BOARD OF DIRECTORS
I am a ten-year resident of Prescott having moved here from Tempe, AZ with my wife, Melinda, in 2010 and most recently served as the executive director of the Yavapai College Foundation.
Why did I get involved? Because members of the PUSD Education Foundation are passionate about enhancing the educational experiences of our Prescott public school students. To do this, we must bring together private philanthropic and community support in order to assist our amazing teachers and their academic initiatives.

I am a Realtor with Realty Executives Northern Arizona and have lived in Prescott for over 9 years. As a parent of 3 boys who attended the Prescott Unified Schools, I am passionate about education, opportunities for all students and have been an active volunteer throughout the community. I am married to Dr. Luis Fernandez and have followed my passions to help create the founding Board of The Foundation. I am an avid golfer who loves to hike and follow my dreams every day, sharing my love of Prescott.
I am passionate about public education and the positive impact this Foundation can make for our children, teachers, and community. I believe incredible things can be achieved when we combine our efforts for good! I am thrilled to be a part of the PUSD Education Foundation and to make a difference in the future of Prescott’s youth.
I have been a teacher, coach, principal and am now in my fourth year as PUSD’s superintendent. I am a proud father of two PHS graduates and the husband of a special education teacher, living in Prescott for over 30 years.
The PUSD Education Foundation is important to me because I grew up, taught in, and now have two children going through PUSD. I believe in our public school system and the people who are leading it. I feel this is a way to make extraordinary things happen for our students.
The Hike Shack, Co-Owner
My wife and I are both PUSD alumni and know firsthand the tremendous education we received. The sense of community and life lessons we learned while growing up have stayed with us as we continued our education and throughout our careers. Many of our revered teachers, coaches, and administrators continue to be mentors to us and we feel so fortunate to be a part of the PUSD Education Foundation to ensure our experiences are passed down to our children as they are being raised in this amazing community of committed educators.
I’ve traveled the world, but Prescott has always been my home. I have loved helping our school district through the Foundation with my video, photography, and web design skills since the founding of PUSDEF.
I knew in third grade that I wanted to be a teacher. I had the privilege of “dealing in futures” for thirty-two years as a classroom teacher. Public education is my passion. As a member of the Foundation board I am able to continue contributing my support to the students and teachers in our community.
Finance & Governance Committee
I have been a supporter of public education because I believe every child should be given an opportunity for a life-changing education. My wife and I have sent 3 children to PUSD schools and we have been thrilled with the education and the character building they have received. A healthy public school system is essential for Prescott to continue to be a vibrant community for families and retirees.
Mike Daniels, Esq.
As a former juvenile prosecutor, and now as a criminal defense attorney, I know that lack of education is a predictive factor of an individual’s likely involvement in the criminal justice system. I am involved with the Foundation because it promotes and supports education which, in turn, keeps kids out of the system and on the road to success.
Mike Daniels, PLLC
Vice President of Programs Committee
The PUSD Education Foundation holds a very special place in my heart. I grew up in Prescott, I attended Prescott Public Schools and after becoming a teacher, I returned to Prescott to teach for PUSD. I am passionate about education and it is amazing to witness the innovative activities that are occurring in our classrooms daily. It is an honor to be a part of this Foundation and be able to give back and support our community’s children and teachers. It takes a village and the partnerships between our community, the District and the Foundation have proven to continue to elevate the excellence in our greatest asset, our children.

I graduated from Grand Canyon High School before moving to Prescott to attend Yavapai College. I graduated from Yavapai College and went on to NAU in Flagstaff to complete a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Media, Audio/Video Production and Engineering. I worked in Flagstaff for a few years before being able to move back to Prescott and take a position with Yavapai College as one of the IT managers over the Presentation Technology group. I am happily married to Angela, an Academic Advisor at Yavapai College and a recent master’s of education degree recipient from NAU, and dad to Collin and Audrey, who are both PUSD students.

My wife and I moved here from southern Arizona and chose PUSD schools for our sons who both went on to graduate from Prescott High School. I am a strong advocate of public education at all levels believing that every child deserves the best education possible. The foundation is a great way to support our educators and I am proud to be part of this organization.
I am actively committed to my family and community with a particular interest in how public education shapes children’s lives, environment, and long-term positive outcomes. Providing leadership in these areas while raising a family and managing a small business are my most rewarding endeavors. In addition to being a wife, mom, community servant-leader, and business owner, myself and my family enjoy performing arts, travel, and competitive sailboat racing.
Connie Donovan, EdD
As member of the governing board of PUSD, I volunteered to act as liaison to the Foundation on behalf of the Board. I have had experience doing this, as I was foundation president for a similar-size public school district in the Chicago area. While the two districts have different demographics and needs, I thought I might be able to help with ideas for generating interest and, hopefully, funds for PUSD.
Vice President of Finance & Governance Committee
The PUSD Education Foundation is committed and dedicated to the health and well-being of our schools, educators, and children. Our children are our most precious asset and our future; they need our support more now than ever. Supporting our children supports our community and together we all prosper. It’s an honor and privilege to serve on the board of a foundation that’s sole purpose and mission is our children and our schools.
