Who We Are

The PUSD Education Foundation is governed by an independent volunteer board of directors comprised of business and community leaders, parents, and alumni. Directors are elected to three-year terms and may be re-elected. We currently have 28 Board Members who donate their time and money to support and run our foundation. The foundation links community and alumni resources – time, money, services, and expertise – with the needs of our school to enhance and complement the educational mission of PUSD. The Foundation builds broad-based support for educational excellence, increases the visibility and value of our schools, and promotes the understanding that everyone in the community is responsible for creating a quality educational system.

We are passionate people inspired to help provide for the much needed resources that are not funded through local, state, or federal taxes.

How did PUSDEF start and why?

The Foundation was created as a result of the frustration in the lack of funding for public district schools in the State of Arizona. Prescott Unified School District was unable to pass a bond and override request to our school budget in 2013. As a result of this lack of perceived community support, a group of parents and community members got together to see what could be done privately by the people who did care about our district schools. A non-profit supporting PUSD was born in 2015.

What need is this organization fulfilling?

The need for support – financial and community.  Arizona district schools operate on a slim, bare bones budget system.  In order for our children, the future, to have an excellent educational experience and graduate from our high school prepared to contribute to our community, money is needed.  Additionally, our teachers and staff deserve to be supported in the amazing work that they do and they deserve the ability to dream big in educating our children.  The foundation gives them the ability to do so.
