For the festive opening Friday, Nov. 1 of their much-awaited branch across from McDonald’s on Willow Creek Road in Prescott, Desert Financial Credit Union leaders proved to be financial fairy godmothers to eight community nonprofit charities — donating close to $60,000 for housing, learning and nutrition.

The Prescott Unified School District Education Foundation (PUSDEF) hosted its 9th Annual Sip and Savor Fundraising Event on Saturday, September 28, 2024. The elegant affair, themed “A Soirée in Black and White,” took place at The Club at Prescott Lakes and welcomed 130 guests, all dressed in stylish black-and- white attire. This year’s sold-out event raised an impressive $75,000 to support PUSDEF programs benefiting teachers and students in the district.

On a night intended to celebrate eight, select Prescott High School “Rising Stars” and their chosen “Distinguished Educators” who enabled them to overcome academic, athletic, health and other life obstacles to earn their diplomas, mock trial and law instructor Brenda Lee coined a new word she said pertained to the student who selected her as an educational mentor.

The PUSD Education Foundation unveiled a substantial initiative to strengthen Prescott Unified School District (PUSD). The foundation awarded $70,000 in grants that include supporting math teacher recruitment and retention and facilitating a library enhancement project at Prescott High School.
